The Denver Dynamite, playing without player/coach Chris Handsor and Chad Pearson, earned their first win of the 2009-10 PASL-Pro season with a 15-8 victory over In-State rival and PASL-Premier foe the Ft. Collins Fury.
Tony Avery led the Dynamite with 4 goals, scoring all of them in the first quarter. The Dynamite jumped out to a 4-0 lead, and led 5-2 at the end of the quarter. Josh Fallin scored most of his 3 goals for Denver in the 2nd quarter including one with 0.6 seconds left in the half, giving Denver a 10-4 halftime lead.
Ft. Collins were the better team in the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Dynamite 3-1 to close the lead to 11-7 with one quarter to go. Nate Flemming, who led the Fury with 3 goals, opened up the 4th quarter with a goal to bring the Fury within striking distance of the Dynamite, down just 3 goals.
The rest of the game belonged to the Dynamite who scored the 4 final goals, including Jay Hamilton and Tony Thomas' 2nd goals of the night. Zach Cousins also had 2 goals for the Ft. Collins Fury.
The Dynamite improve to 1-4 in the PASL-Pro West Division as well as retaining the Rocky Mountain Cup by defeating the Fury.
The Dynamite take a break from regular season play next Saturday at 7:30 pm, when they face the Colorado Springs Cavalry in the opening round of the US Arena Open Cup, at the Denver Bladium.
