Espinoza played for the PASL’s Estadio Azteca against the Stockton Pumas matched he and Bernie Lilavois against each other. The home crowd was electrified every time Espinoza scored and the players were very honored for the opportunity to play with and agaisnt him. Espinoza had 4 goals and 2 assists and the game ended in the 24 to 24 draw. Both teams agreed to make the league match an exhibition and to reschedule their regular match at a later date.

The Exhibitions were to promote Chivas vs America on February 9th at the Stockton Arena, and the California Cougars vs The  PASL Allstars on February 10th.

Stockton, CA – Jan. 21, 2008 – The California Cougars, of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), announce a special all-star weekend of indoor soccer events to take place February 9 and 10 at Stockton Arena.

The Cougars have partnered with Mexican World Cup legend Missael Espinoza to present “Leyendas de los Clasicos” at Stockton Arena. The event will feature “Chivas de Guadalajara” (Chivas) vs. “Club Deportivo América” (Club América) in a friendly beginning at 7:15 on February 9, 2008. The rosters will consist of a collection of Mexico’s soccer legends. Tickets to this special event range from $15.00 to $35.00.

A formal press conference announcing the partnership is scheduled for Sunday, January 27 at 5:15 p.m. It will be held at Stockton Arena before the Cougars play the expansion Orlando Sharks at 6:15 p.m. Interested media members should contact Greg Young, Director of Media Relations and Broadcasting for the Cougars, for proper media credentials. Cougars head coach Bernie Lilavois, Espinoza and former Chivas de Guadalajara goalkeeper Martín Zúñiga are scheduled to attend the conference.

The Chivas roster includes: Espinoza, Marco Antonio “Chima” Ruiz, Jose Luis Montes De Oca, Felipe Robles, El “Campeoncito” Hernandez, Alberto Coyote, Alberto “Guarmeru” Garcia, Gabriel “Gabi” Garcia, Ignacio Vasquez, Gustavo “Gusano” Nápoles and Manuel Rios.

Adrian Chavez, Enrique Rodon, Cecilio De Los Santos, Guillermo Naranjo, Edson Astivia, Isaac Terrazas, Raul Rodrigo Lara, Paco Uribe, Jorge Toledano, El “Fantasma” Figueroa and Antonio Carlos Santos are all confirmed for the Club América roster.

“Leyendas de los Clasicos” is preceded by Cougars’ soccer clinics. California’s players and coaches will hold four free two hour clinics beginning at 9:00AM for youth soccer players. Children 14 and under are eligible to enroll for the free clinics, youths attending will receive free passes to the Cougars All-Star event the following day.

On February 10 the Cougars and the Premiere Arena Soccer League (PASL) will participate in a doubleheader event featuring the very best of the PASL and the Cougars.

The PASL matches begin at 11:00AM with a Pacific Division match of Turlock Express vs OTW Santa Clara. The second match of the doubleheader features the Cougars against the PASL National All-Stars.
