The Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL-Pro) announced a series of non-league games that will raise the level of play and build on the league’s objective of creating a multi-level platform for arena soccer.
In addition to eight regular season home games, each PASL-Pro team will host a number of games that could include Arena Open Cup competition, US National Arena Soccer Team games, tussles with the Stars of Mexico, PASL-Premier All Stars, and the best teams of PASL-Premier. The Stockton Cougars have already been named the host site for the PASL-Pro Championship Weekend.
"One of our objectives has always been to grow the sport of arena soccer at all levels," said Commissioner Kevin Milliken. "By consistantly competing with a diverse set of opponents we will not only raise our game, but we’ll open the doors of opportunity, create intrigue and excitement for our fans."
"The Stars of Mexico and PASL All-Star games were extremely successful for us," said Cougars owner Jim Rachels. "The publicity those games garnered helped put us on the map, but it also showed that arena soccer can attract world class players like Luis “El Matador” Hernandez, and Missael Espinoza who were stars for Mexico’s National Team."
A complete schedule is expected to be released in late June.
PASL-Pro is a new professional arena soccer league whose inaugural season kicks off October 25, 2008. PASL-Premier just completed its 10th season as the nation’s top amateur arena soccer league.
