Copa America
Texas fared a lot better in Round 2 against Monterrey, but still fell 9-5. Monterrey is 3-0 in Copa America. Mariano Bollella and Byron Alvarez did not play in Monterrey's 15-7 win over Texas last week, but they each contributed four points in this tighter affair.
US Open
Cincinnati, Denver, and Stockton each advanced in the US Open. 1790 built a 10-0 lead over Swanner United (PASL-Premier) before losing the shutout with 4:20 to go in a 10-1 win. Denver beat Colorado in overtime, 5-4. The two teams have gone to sudden death in all three meetings this year. Stockton beat San Diego 12-7 to become the first team to advance to the Open semifinals.
Elvir Kafedzic, St. Louis
Elvir is back in the building. The Illusion's 26 year old Bosnian saw action in just his fourth game of the year, but matched a league high with five goals in their 13-8 win over Detroit. He now has 14 goals and six assists, including nine goals and four assists in two games against Detroit.
The Week Ahead
Cincinnati will get its biggest test of the year as they kick off a five game road trip. On Saturday they face Denver and on Sunday it's Colorado. 1790 will put their perfect record (6-0 league, 2-0 US Open) on the line against their best competition so far.
