Magic Stay Hot, Zap Blizzard, 9-4

7/24/11 - Three players had a multi-goal game Saturday as the Kansas Magic posted a 9-4 victory over the Colorado Blizzard at Epic Indoor Sports in Overland Park, Kan.

Midfielder Kyle Brown had three goals and two assists for the Magic, which won their third exhibition game since April 30. Chaz O’Dell and Matt Germain scored two goals each for the Magic while Brett Porter and Luis Pinto had one goal each. O’Dell, Bryan Williams and Colin Bulwich had two assists each.

The Magic never trailed in the game. Germain scored at 1:40 of the opening quarter to give the Magic an early lead.

Colorado stayed in the game in the first half, in large part due to the scoring of defender Greg Hubbard. He scored two goals in the first half. Jesse Black scored between Hubbard’s two goals and Eric Goldberg scored late in the second quarter as Colorado rallied from deficits of 2-0, 3-1 and 5-2. Kansas led at halftime, 5-4.

But the Magic held Colorado scoreless in the second half and pulled away with four more goals.

Kansas kept Colorado goalkeeper Justin Dzuba busy with 29 shots. Dzuba made 19 saves.
