PASL Partners with Pointstreak, Launches New Website

11/7/11 - Pointstreak Sports Technologies Inc. and the Professional Arena Soccer League ('PASL') are pleased to announce they have reached a long-term agreement in which Pointstreak will provide a new league website and real-time scoring, official statistics and league administrative services to the PASL.

The partnership hit the ground running this past weekend as the PASL began its fourth season with five games, which were scored using the new Pointstreak software. Prior to opening night the PASL also launched their new website as the new domain www.paslsoccer.com.

The PASL is a professional league which began play on October 25, 2008. The league, beginning its fourth season, consists of US teams, the CMISL (Canada), and the LMFR (Mexico). The Anaheim Bolts, Phoenix Monsoon, Kansas Magic, and Turlock Express have been added for the 2011-12 season. USNAST Wins International Cup 2011

10/30/11 - The Anaheim Bolts played host to the US National Arena Team and the Mexican National team on a historic weekend for the 2011 International Cup.

The first ever pro indoor soccer match in Orange County since 1997 and the Anaheim Splash saw the Bolts take on the USA. Despite having leads of 7-5 and 9-7 against a very seasoned USA roster, the Bolts ultimately saw the match decided in shootouts after regulation ended 9 all.

The US prevailed 2-1 in the shootout, but for those in attendance for this first night, it was a win no matter for them. The pure excitement of indoor soccer match is something that stays with you. It is intense, fun, and a great night out. For the history buffs out there, the first goal in Bolts history was tallied by Enrique Tovar, which was one of his first three goals and the first Bolts hat-trick ever.

On Saturday, October 29^th, the same USA squad took on and defeated the Mexican National indoor team 7-5. The loss from Mexico was their first their first since international play began in 2008, truly a famous win for the USA. The game was also shown live on KDOC and pulled in nearly double the ratings of the preceding Anaheim Ducks match.

This year’s International Cup concluded on Sunday, October 30^th as the Bolts returned to their home floor, decked out in their home blue kit for the first time against the Mexican squad. The Bolts raced out to a 4-0 lead and even thought Mexico did get close it was a lead that was never compromised.

The Bolts’ historic 9-6 win before the largest crowd of the weekend (only Mexico’s 2^nd loss since ’08) was a demonstration of the talent this team has, but also their grit, determination and passion. The win, went to goalie Jesus Molina; another Bolts first! Patrick “Little Messi” Ruiz was named player of the game with 3 goals in the game.

PASL Unveils New Official Game Ball

10/24/11 - The Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) revealed its new game ball today, the first of several marketing initiatives the fourth year league will be unveiling.

Continuing its long term relationship with Baden, the PASL is upgrading to the SX501-5000 ball, which will feature an entirely new design.

The last three years the PASL’s Baden game ball was white with red stars. The new ball for the first time creates an easily identifiable look that fans will immediately associate with the PASL.

The primarily yellow ball with blue Baden marks, features the PASL, PASL-Premier, and US National Arena Soccer Team logos as well as the imprinted signature of commissioner Kevin Milliken.

"We appreciate the relationship we have established with Baden," said Milliken, "and want to thank Baden’s Todd Tice for working with us in creating a signature ball for the PASL."

The PASL game ball has a new improved deluxe PU cover for softer touch, optic yellow for better visibility, and increased scuff resistance. It is constructed with Baden’s Cross Panel Laminated backing for increased durability and shape retention.

“Baden is proud to create this fully customized match ball to meet the demands of the PASL and its players," said Baden Sports Soccer Sales Manager Todd Tice. "We are excited to put it in play!”

Six Sockers Included in Inaugural Class of Indoor Soccer Hall of Fame

10/5/11 - The Indoor Soccer Hall of Fame and its blue ribbon selection committee announced the twelve members who will comprise the inaugural 2011 Hall of Fame class. Included in the group of twelve players, coaches and contributors to the game of indoor soccer are six former San Diego Sockers.

Indoor superstar Juli Veee, who scored 602 points in 263 MISL and NASL indoor games and won six championships in nine years, headlines the group of six Sockers honored. Former head coach Ron Newman, who led the Sockers to ten championships in eleven seasons, all-time indoor scoring leader Steve Zungul, Branko Segota, Victor Nogueira and Kevin Crow round out the former Sockers enshrined.

"This is an incredible honor," said Veee upon hearing the announcement, "What makes it so great is that I'm sharing it with so many friends. To see how many Sockers are going into the first class of the Indoor Hall of Fame, it makes me proud and is a statement about the greatness of the organization."

Members of the selection committee include National Soccer Hall of Famers Newman and Al Miller, legendary Baltimore Blast Head Coach Cooper, longtime Dallas Sidekicks Head Coach and former World Indoor Soccer League Commissioner Gordon Jago, and current MISL coaches Keith Tozer and Kim Roentved.

Also being honored in the inaugural Indoor Soccer Hall of Fame class of twelve are MISL founder Earl Foreman, players Tatu, Stan Stamenkovic, and Kim Roentved, and coaches Kenny Cooper and Don Popovic.
