Five teams will be moving into the playoffs from the Pacific Division. It has been in real mix in the division as the Turlock Express (4-1-3) move into 1st place after beating Real California, and the Stockton Pumas tie while at the Chico Bigfoot on Saturday evening.
With Turlock’s victory, they earn a division-high 15 points with a 4-1-3 record after having tied the Stockton Pumas 8-8, Chico Bigfoot 11-11, and Santa Clara 10-10.
The Stockton Pumas (4-2-2), who went into their game knowing they needed the 3 points to earn first place traveled to Chico where the final buzzer sounded with an 8-8 tie. The Bigfoot were winning 8-4 with less than 5 minutes left, but couldn’t hold the lead as the Pumas found the net four times in less than 3 minutes. The Pumas finish just 1-point behind Turlock after going 4-2-2 with 14 points.
Santa Clara enters the playoffs with 13 points after beating the Sacramento Scorpions to end their season. Santa Clara (4-2-1) looks good with their only 2 loses coming by way of forfeit this season.
The Chico Bigfoot (3-2-3) have 11-points and are entering the weekend after scoring 29 goals in their last 3 games. The Bigfoot have tied the Pumas 8-8 and Turlock 11-11, and beat Sacramento 8-4 in their last 3 meetings to finish the season.
Sacramento rounds out the tournament with 9 points. The Scorpions recently lost a close battle to Turlock 8-7 and beat Real California 6-0 entering this past weekend.
The one glaring omission is the Colorado Predators who paced the entire summer league with a 7-1 record. The Predators were a late addition to the summer lineup and had previously committed to the 37th Annual Vail Invitational Soccer Tournament before the dates for the summer nationals were announced.
The playoffs still look to be great this summer as the 6 teams have a combined 24 wins and 9 ties through 47 games. The Pacific Division has never been closer with 4 teams within literally 2 goals apart from 1st to 4th place.
