Javier Lorios Savors Hat-Trick Against Ft. Collins Fury

1/5/09 - Javier Lorios savored his "special" moment after his hat-trick spearheaded a 7-5 Denver Dragons FC win for 1st place in the Rocky Mountain Division against Ft. Collins Fury.

He is the second Dragons FC player to achieve the feat for the PASL 08/09-winter season since Tony Avery’s hat-trick against the Dynamite Reserves in the first game of the season.

The Fury made it a game in the third quarter by tying the game at 5 all after being down 5-1. With both sides now fancying their chances of victory, Lorios blasted a left footer on a power play to claim a 6-5 lead in the fourth period.

After the game Lorios said: "I’ve never had a hat-trick before in the PASL so to get one in a 1st place game is even more special. It hasn’t really sunk in yet and it’s not just about me because I want to win for my team and it’s a big day for all of us."

"I wasn’t really thinking about anything – Captain Andrew Kummer told me it would be a great thing for being a new player on the team if I got the hat-trick," he added.

"I didn’t think the referee was going to signal a goal because it was hit so hard that it came back from the back of the net and didn’t know what to do when he did signal a goal- I just ran away like a headless chicken."
