7/23/10 - The Premier Arena Soccer League’s 13th summer season is coming to a close this weekend and teams are packing their bags for a trip to Ft. Collins for the Summer National Championships at the end of the month. The men’s and women’s finals will both be held at Ft. Collins Indoor Soccer Club.
The Turlock Express, the California Cougars development team, are headed to the finals as the Pacific Division Champion. They will be joined by CF Revolucion Tijuana, who received an international at large bid, by the PASL. The Rocky Mountain Division will be represented by their Division Champion the Colorado Blizzard, and runner-up/host the Fort Collins Fury. Pikes Peak Calvary or the Denver Boom will join this group as the final team, depending on the Calvary meeting its obligations with the league.
The women’s tournament will feature the Pacific Division Champion Soccer World FC, and runner up OTW Santa Clara, who is taking Chico’s position for disciplinary reasons. The Rocky Mountain Division will be led by the Division Champion Denver Sizzle, and runner up/host the Lady Fury from Fort Collins. The 3rd and final spot is between the Edwards Lady Freedom, Pikes Peak Calvary, and Mile High FC. This spot will be determined after this weekend’s play.
Without three-time champion OTW Santa Clara in the men’s mix there will be a first time champion. The OTW Santa Clara women last won the Summer Nationals in 2008.
The final lineup of teams will be announced on Monday.
