11/26/08 (Loveland, CO) - Colorado Lightning's head coach Rafael Amaya has announced the signing of Jose Londono for the 2008/09 season. Jose, also known as "Tato," is the director of Londono Soccer Camps in Nashville, Tennessee and has coached and developed players that have been successful at every level, from youth soccer to national team players.
Londono was a professional player in many different leagues around the United States. He played with the Indianapolis Twisters of the CISL, Detroit Rockers of the NPSL, Nashville Metros of the A-League, Wichita Wings of the NPSL, Kansas City Attack of NPSL, and the Nashville Rhythm of the A-league. He also played professional soccer with first division with Deportes Tolima in Columbia, South America. Londono was also a Division 1 Soccer Team Member and Captain at the University of Evansville and a two-time USA Olympic Festival Silver Medalist. Londono has a huge passion for soccer and hopes to continue that with the Colorado Lightning.
Londono at 5 feet 7 inches tall is a huge addition to the team and the Lightning's season. He comes to the team with intention to play midfielder or forward in order to help add offense to the Lightning attack. The next home game is next Sunday, November 30th against the Wenatchee, Washington Fire. "Come support your Northern Colorado Indoor Soccer Team. I guarantee we will put big numbers on the scoreboard and entertain our fans," said head Coach, Rafael Amaya.
