La Cabana de Tijuana to Embark on US Mini Tour

5/13/09 - The Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL-Premier) announced today that LMFR Baja Division Champion La Cabana de Tijuana will play a three-game exhibition tour this weekend.

La Cabana, led by former San Diego Sockers and California Cougars midfielder Eduardo Velez, will first face the Visalia All-Stars on Friday, May 15Eduardo Velez at McDermont Field House at 6:30 pm.

From there they will head north to face the Turlock Express at 7:00 on Saturday May 16 at Turlock Indoor Soccer.

The final swing will take them to the Merced Indoor Sports Center where they will meet Merced Atlas at 3:00pm Sunday May 18.

La Cabana made a stirring run this season in the LMFR.  After a 2-1-2 regular season they defeated Machado and upset Cuernavaca to advance to the PASL-Pro North American Championships.  In the first round they took the Edmonton Drillers to overtime before falling, 8-7.

Velez, who also spent time this year with the Mexican National Arena Soccer team, scored four goals in that loss to Edmonton and goalkeeper Julio Bastida Lara kept La Cabana in the game by anchoring the back line.

The PASL-Premier just kicked off its 12th summer season featuring 17 summer teams.  Summer nationals will be held in Sacramento on the weekend of July 24.  For more information go to www.arenaleague.com.
