6/2/09 - Soccer fans and fair goers are in for a treat: The San Diego Sockers, San Diego’s only professional indoor soccer team, and Mexico’s La Cabana will play on June 14th during the San Diego County Fair.
The match, which will be free to attend with paid admission to the San Diego County Fair, is the first indoor soccer game to be played in the newly renovated Del Mar Arena.
“This is a big event for us,” enthuses San Diego Sockers head coach, Phil Salvagio. “This game will be our first game in our new home facility and our first opportunity to show San Diego what we’ve got when playing in a professional facility.”
The June 14th game is set to start at 5:30pm. The San Diego Sockers will sign autographs after the game and will have a nearby booth selling apparel and season tickets.
The San Diego Sockers’ season starts November 7th and home games will be played at the Del Mar Arena.
